» The strawberry launch

During a pleasant sunny Thursday 5th April in Brighton a steady stream of visitors joined in the celebration of the opening of my exhibition- entering through to the gallery above Snoopers’ Paradise in Kensington Gardens:

… underlined by a stream of 6″x4″ foamboarded ‘incidentals’ of my entire Flickr photostream, showing the diversity of what I have uploaded in the last year:

And huge, 1 metre x 70cm sealed aluminium prints of two selected images; Stretch and Memoirs of a Woman of Leisure, on the far wall.

What a great write-up for the opening day. Here I am feeling quite proud, with 12 / 15 of the pics above from my camera :) hehe. Wishing you more and more success with the exhibition, and with becoming really famous!

Try mixing the champagne and orange juice together. It’s called a mimosa, and is quite delicious. Is the gallery itself an old trolley car or bus? I kinda looks like one from what I can tell…

Congratulations on your show. :) I like the way they displayed the 6×4s under the other photos, great idea. I really enjoy your work.

It’s a great looking show! I also like the small photos running under the large ones. congratulations on all your recent publicity.

Good to see it even though I couldn’t get there.

Tell me: my instincts tell me that 10 Megapixels is simply not enough to get decent resolution on those really pig pics. I would have thought 14-20 inches was your maximum dimension to keep 200-300dpi. How did you manage it?

    thanks all

@ nico - huh? r u referring to the gallery pics, or my blog pics? and what do you mean?

    @ Matt - no, not a trolley car (?)

@ Erin - yes, whilst I was uploading all of this entry, my internet connection was going a bit funny, so never got to give a mention to you to credit the images used, so I’ll do it here :-) Thanks!

Wow - I look like such a cheery soul… trust me, I was about to be amazingly humourous.

Hi, I stumbled across your exhibition while visiting friends in Brighton, it was my first experience of your work. I have to congratulate you on a great body of work, your self-exploration through self portraiture and multiplicity shots is wonderful, plus I love the flickr stream of photos beneath the main images.

    The exhibition prints.

The R1 is 10.3 megapixels I think? With that many pixels your maximum print size to retain anything like photo quality is about 14-16″ by about 12″ or so. YOu have prints a lot bigger than that which is seriously risky in terms of quality. I mentioned this to someone else on Flickr when you first announced the exhibition, commenting that the prints couldn’t be that big with the output from an R1 (or my D80 for that matter!). I’m just wondering how you managed it.

Oh and just for your interest, this is quite useful: http://design215.com/toolbox/megapixels.php

Wow, i see you having a good crew around you! That’s logical, you are taking-off:-) I’m curious: how much people they are, and how you selected them?

sorry for jumping in, but Nico, you are right in the basics of what you say, but that only holds if you produce straight from camera files. Most imaging software allows you to go larger than the sizes you refer to. Try a program like Genuine Fractals for instance, its excellent for image interpolation. With the camera that Miss A uses for her later images there is no issue with attaining the sizes we have achieved if you are really attentive to both print and processing stages.
