» Munroe
Munroe, who is a Brighton musician, asked me to take some pictures for his album art.
We had the use of an erotic boutique for just over an hour one morning - where such accessories as a crow feather-boa and cuffs were readily available.
The shoot was great practice for taking pictures of other models, not that I wil ever desert self portraiture…
As far as equipment goes, I used my camera alone, no tripod, external lighting, etc, but weird and wacky Photoshopping was the requisite.
Here are my favourite images from the shoot:

How delightful. I really like the second. Excellent work around the eyes and with the texturing of the feathers.

Wow these are all so awesome… so professional and so artistic. Can’t even pick a favorite, they each have something… To be honest I like these all even better than the one you posted on Flickr, even though that was captivating too. I actually think they could sell very well in a gallery.

Great. Were you inspired by a mix of Nan Goldin and Araki for this photoshoot ?

Wow. I just randomly stumbled across a photo of yours, which led to your flickr stream, which led me to your entire body of work and blog. I am absolutely amazed. Your work is the kind that both inspires, and slightly discourages because it is in fact so amazing. I’m sure I speak for many when I say I would aspire to make art as breathtaking as yours.

thanks so much for all the comments on this post - Ilina, Jestem, Sherrie, Doger, Salome.
@ Arnaud - not in particular but i have heard of Nan Goldin, not of Araki…
@ Richard - thank u very much, that encourages me to believe my work is ok, at the moment i am on a bit of a downer regarding what i think of my work… but i am sure my confidence will pick up in the New Year!

Araki is a japanese photographer who is mainly known for his work about bondage :

Your work is interesting because it reminds both of the bondage thing of Araki and evokes the underground coloured world of Goldin while having his own personality… and it shows a new face of your talent beyond the multiplicity pictures !

hey. just wanted to say i’ve always liked your stuff. ever since the multiplicity days. what can i say, i always made music, not pictures. and had the most appreciation for the art that i wasn’t involved in/didn’t come naturally to me.
good luck with everything you do.

These shots are fantastic. I was directed here, as through my performance work I have had to overcome my fears of being in front of a camera. A photographer friend thought I would do well to start to work on some self-portraiture to enable me to understand a little more about both sides of the camera. He sent me here and I am astounded by the level and artisticness (is there such a word?) of your work.
Also, your more recent blog on beauty and ugliness also really touched me. Its only in recent years I have learnt that the fact I am nothing special to look at day to day doesnt not mean I could not be a part of a beautiful photograph. There is so much more to the work than that
If you ever have an urge to photograph a Kent based burlesque singer with a love of burlesque, fetish, corsets and anything quirky please please get in touch. I would be honoured to work you.
