Before the opening of my exhibition on Thursday evening I was interviewed by two TV channels, TVE2 and Atena 3. The first one was aired on Wednesday night (16th) at midnight on La 2 Noticias, which I am sure will be on the net at some point, so I’ll put a link here as soon as it appears, unless someone has taped it and can somehow transfer it to YouTube. The other interview is a pilot for a new programme that will be on in a few weeks and I haven’t seen the finished edited article yet.

I fully enjoyed the TV interviews, it’s watching them back that is slightly painful, as is normal for people to feel!
My brainwave whilst I sat on the transfer coach on the way back, is to have a go at making a film of myself! A professional (but informal) one with an interview structure, edited and soundtracked to a good standard (made with a proper film camera) but one that I have as much control in as I do in my self portraits. Maybe I want to show a bit of the real silly me. I don’t know when I will do this but I want to do it soon, and there’s always the new Flickr video feature waiting for it ;))

You’re looking great at the moment. You’ve really blossomed since getting together with Matthew.
The video idea is worth exploring, but I think you might find that everyone falls madly in love with you, which might make it hard to give unbiased views of your photos.

Haha I’d actually hope to cunteract (i really did write that word by accident and thought i’d leave it) any unrealistic impressions my photography might have given viewers, by showing a bit of gormlessness.

Great idea, using moving images to capture your gorm deficit! Have a look at a new software from Adobe called Visual Communicator. If I had ten per cent of your talent (and were perhaps half a century younger) this would be my tool of choice for transitioning from the still to the dynamic image.

Well, I certainly appreciate a bit of gormless humanity (I ‘m wearing Homer Simpson “Doh!” socks today) but there was a semi-serious point to my comment. Some of the admirers of your fantastical pieces seem to want to believe that you are some sort of always beautiful mythical goddess. Uploading realist images/videos will make it harder for the fans of escapist imagery to suspend their disbelief.
It’s like when you upload a shot showing what processing you used on an image. Some people (including me) like to see the wizard behind the curtain, but others would rather believe in magic. Finding out “it’s all done with Photoshop” can ruin a piece for many people.
It’s also perhaps true that artists who remain mysterious (not doing much publicity for example, and keeping their methods, motivations and private lives secret) tend to have longer careers. If you give too much of the “real you” to your fans, they might fall in love, but they also might decide they don’t like you, or - worse - get bored! You have to walk a tightrope to remain popular. Over-exposure is something to avoid, methinks.

Hi Aniela.
That is the first time I look to your photos and they are amazing!! The way how you play with the colors, specially with the strong red color, the dynamic photos with yourself around changes completely the definition of photo, making of a moment an action.
I love many of your photos, but I have strong feelings with the one called “The pool of tears”. Your lost eyes in this photo, the expression of the body…..it’s weird how I feel when I look at it.

Hi, you have some great pictures! I thought by some of them that you are learning polish or you speak already?? I am Mexican but I study cinematography in Poland, do you have plans of making a shoot here?? If you are i would love to learn about the way you develop this style. Well anyway, good luck!

The front page of http://www.elpais.com/global/ (which linked to the slideshow and article) yesterday was probably seen by more people than the original newspaper article. You definitely need to learn more Spanish; I think you have more fans over there than any other country.

HI just wanted to say i think your work is truly Inspirational, i have just taken an interest in photography and bought myself a canon 40d with the hope in a few years to be taken seriously as a photographer. Is there any pointers you can give me?
