October fest ;)

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Winter is creeping in and I’m kind of liking it, though I daren’t admit it because it makes me feel like a self-professed hermit.
At least there’s autumn in between, which eases the divide between walking along the promenade in a miniskirt vs. going in a thick green Emmerdale jumper. Crispy leaves collected upon the car by the end of the day make me both want to kiss my car right on the bonnet and make autumnal self portraits frolicking in the leaves. I did once do that. I have loads of ideas for self portraits but trying to do them is another matter…
There’s also still loads of things I want to put on my blog… pics from America, pics of gulls I shot in Eastbourne, pics of the process of shooting the gulls in Eastbourne… right now I’ll settle for this pic I did aeons ago during a crappy futile round-the-flat session, where i convinced my bony back to lay itself down on the cold lino all to creatively catch some light letterboxing in from the bathroom window.

NB - I think I filed this as a ‘newsletter’ accidentally at first so I apologise if it popped into anyone’s inbox…!

I’m still sorting through my pics taken in the US, some of which you can see on my Flickr site.

Recently I graduated…

and celebrated my 22nd birthday with all my family down to visit (I’m sure they won’t mind this blurred pic which obscures them from public view)… taken on the beach after our birthday BBQ.

This coming week, I am having some documentary filmmakers from Spain to visit… oo-er!

Upcoming Sep plans: exhibiting a couple of my pieces at the Lantern Media Festival in Tunbridge Wells this September (more about that later, as I’d like to spread the word about the festival) and plans to speak at Photokina in Germany…

Apart from that, anyone got any advice on cameras?
I am considering one of the following DSLRs: Nikon D80, Canon 40D, or Sony Alpha 350.
I’m thinking of the Canon primarily (almost ruled the Nikon out because I’ve been focusing on the other two). Considering the Sony primarily because it has a swivel screen like my current R1, it doesn’t turn 180 degrees. Is it just best to make a new start with a Canon?

Lately there has been a spell of the uncanny in my work. Check out:

They gathered to see
An impromptu performance

THE_LEATHER_SETTEE.jpg

Apologies!! It appears that on my last three blog posts, there has been a technical problem with the comments, which means none of them were sent after filling in the form. That’s disappointing as my last couple of posts were rather good ‘uns!! ;-)

Everything is fine now and I have also decided to omit the Moderation feature (for now) as I have my Spam under control…. so comments can appear straight away.
